Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 in 1983) is a well-known American actor. Particularly, she played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out of high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first role as Rachel's Room's title character the online video show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004, Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she acted as a principal actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) on Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is the modern-day interpretation that Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. She appeared in 2013's sixth season of Californication. She is Faith as a girl who acts as a muse to the stars and catches the attention of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family she is the daughter and elder sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager She began working in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko alongside her brother. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). The two films received acclaim from critics. After several commercially successful films in 2006, including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she was nominated as the best supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mom in Crazy Heart. The following year, she starred in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Other roles she has played include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) as well as the title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal started her career as a director, screenwriter and script writer, when she wrote and directed her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter.
